Body LiftProcedure: Address excess skin and fat of the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttox and back. All the benefits of an abdominoplasty and much more. This procedure is designed for people who have lost a significant amount of weight and have droopy tissue circumferentially. It is also appropriate for people of "normal" weight who have "bulges" in the hip and thigh region as well as in the abdominal area. Length: 6-8 hours Anesthesia: General Anesthesia Blood Transfusion: We suggest donation of 1-2 units of your own blood for this operation. In/Outpatient: Hospital admission for 2-3 days is suggested. Side effects: Post-operative pain which resolves over 1-2 weeks. Swelling, soreness, stiff muscles, bruising, numbness of abdominal skin and fatigue which usually lasts 2-3 weeks. You will require 4-6 weeks to get back to your usual level of activity. Risks: Bloodclots, infection, bleeding under the skin flap. Poor healing resulting in conspicuous scarring or skin loss. You may require a "touch up" operation for optimal results. Recovery: Back to work in 4-6 weeks. Strenuous athletic activity after 6 weeks. Flattening and fading of scars after 6mths-2 years. Results: This operation is one of the "largest" cosmetic surgeries performed. Healing takes a bit longer than other operations, however, the results are dramatic - more than can be achieved with smaller operations. Please contact the office for a consultation and more information on this procedure. |
